Senator Jessie Danielson represents District 22 in the Colorado State Senate, located in
Jefferson County, serving in her second term.
Before her election to the Senate in November 2018, Sen. Danielson served two terms in the
Colorado State House. In her second term as a state representative, she served as Speaker
Pro Tem. During her tenure in the state legislature, Jessie passed the Equal Pay for Equal Work
Act, the Farmworker Bill of Rights, as well as many bills to fight wage theft and support workers’
rights, promote Older Coloradans’ independence and protect them from abuse, support
veterans, promote equality for people with disabilities, raise educator pay, legalize rain barrels,
ban the use of Native American mascots, establish the state Office of Missing and Murdered
Indigenous Relatives (MMIR), and much more.
Before serving in elected office, Jessie was the Colorado State Director for America Votes. Prior
to America Votes, Sen. Danielson worked as Political Director for NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado.
She was also a housing coordinator for Connections for Independent Living, a nonprofit
organization that helps individuals with disabilities lead full and independent lives.
A fourth-generation Coloradan, Sen. Danielson grew up on her family’s farm near Ault in Weld
County. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder. She and her
husband, Andy, live in Wheat Ridge with their daughter, Isabelle, and their baby son, Callum.
